Rachel Houghton is a sworn Australian Border Force (ABF) officer with fourteen years’ experience in border-related operations, policy and strategy.
Currently Commander, ABF College and Workforce Capability, Rachel leads the development of the ABF’s people capacity, from workforce modelling to attraction and recruitment strategies, career management and the development of officers through the ABF College.
Rachel has also led operational general duties Commands, managing functions as diverse as airports, seaports, cargo examination and supply chain security. Rachel also led the ABF’s Northern Coordinator function, delivering a collaborative, intelligence-informed patrol strategy across Northern Australia in conjunction with key partners including Maritime Border Command, the Australian Defence Force and State/Territory police.
Rachel has also undertaken the key operational roles of a/g Assistant Commissioner Border Force Capability Division and Regional Commander Queensland.
